This is kind of a different post, since its not really current news other than the following list has been updated. But I think it’s an interesting enough topic that not everyone might know about, so I figured it was worthy.

This thread was originally created by johnrapp and showed the songs that Andrew W.K. has registered at BMI. Since then the list has been updated, so I thought it would be interesting to review and organize these tracks. Years ago A LOT of these songs were still a mystery. However, many have now been solved with new album releases and minor adjustments to track names. Andrew W.K. specifically referred to this in a chat he did with some fans. He said:

Of the songs you listed, some turned into other songs, but were already entered into BMI and Universal Music Publishing. For example, Don’t Ever Stop The Love became Don’t Ever Stop The Song (which had been previously recorded and released as Don’t Ever Stop The Noise. There’s Only One Woman became One Brother

Other songs are actually still in the works, and I’m hoping we’re able to release them on the upcoming MOTHER OF MANKIND album.

MUSIC/RELEASES

Lets just crash into it! Blabbermouth.net interviewed Marty Friendman which shed some more light about an upcoming single that was originally announced at the blog Truth In Shredding. The actual site youll want to keep an eye out for pre-orders is CDJapan. The single is called Kiba and it will be released with the option to order it either with or without a bonus DVD. Here is a countdown till the release date; 1/27/2010.

Its going to be a fun night for musicians out there!! Cause Andrew has released The Best So Far. This is a book that features guitar tab for all the tracks that appeared on the Japan release of The Very Best So Far

If you didnt already know Mother of Mankind was announced at Andrew W.K.s youtube channel. MAKE SURE TO READ the (more info) section for the goods.

Maximum Fun posted an archived show/interview from The Sound of Young America.

Did you know Andrew W.K. modeled himself after Bob Barker? Well neither did I until I read this interview.

Another interview by Exclaim.ca thats super long here is a highlight reel of the video.

The guardian features an interview of Andrew in regards to his legal battles during The Wolf. This SHORT interview is VERY informative and fills in a lot of gaps about Andrews history. Andrew followed up on twitter stating that this interview went much longer than whats printed! What idiots!! Why didnt they print the whole thing? This information was golden and they just tossed it aside.

The QCTimes interviewed AWK where he gives some more interesting facts during the IGW and TW era. It eventually leads into his TV show Destroy Build Destroy. I enjoyed this interview, so if you have the time go for it! They then posted a follow up to this interview Here. It involves some excerpts that didnt make it into the main article.

Andrew recently posted on his twitter a picture of a magazine featuring him on the cover! The article was done by laura leebove who also runs her own blog. I believe Andrew came to a panel in regards to the release of this magazine. If Im not mistaken Ready2Kill from the official forums went to this party. Youll have to ask him for more details.

Andrew was recently featured in the November issue of NME.

This is a great video of AWK promoting his TV show Destroy Build Destroy on ABC NEWS!!

LXTV interviews Andrew W.K. while he promotes his club Sky Skraper Music Maker and also New York City.

PERFORMANCES

ANDREW W.K. IS CONFIRMED TO BE IN THIS YEARS LINE UP FOR VANS WARPED TOUR 2010!!!! I counted 43 shows across the US. This isnt confirmed or anything but my instincts tell me that hell have his full band backing him. Opposed to 2005-2009 shows of mixer playing on a stereo in the background. An Andrew W.K. show is the funnest concert I have ever been to in my entire life!! Tickets go on sale in March I believe.

Consequence of sound reports a confirmation of Andrew W.K. performing at Big Ears 2010. Tickets went on sale December 11th.

From what I heard the RIBCO show was a blast!! It had a backing band so AWK could perform closer to what fans were more familiar with in 2001-2004.

This is a very strange twitter post picture by AWK. He claimed it was taken this year but it wasnt, this is a 2001 photo. What gives?

Released today, Andrew W.K. lent his voice on the single Do They Know It’s Christmas? by the band Fucked Up. The album is meant to raise awareness for three charities in Canada. This is actually a repeated album concept. The original album came out in 1984 by Band Aid. It also featured various artists and benefited a charity. The three charities you can donate to are Justice For The Missing & Murdered, D.T.E.S. Power of Women, and Sisters In Spirit.

The musical appearances include Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend, Bob Mould, Tegan and Sara, Andrew W.K., Wu-Tangs GZA, TVOTRs Kyp Malone, Yo La Tengo, and Kevin Drew.

I want take a second to explain a few things about getting the most out of this blog and website. If you’ve already heard of RSS feeds then just disregard this and keep scrolling through the News, if you haven’t listen up cause it will make you puke! In a good way.

You know how when you get online you always check certain websites for new stuff? It probably takes you 15-20 minutes to visit them all, and then you’re bummed when you find nothing new. RSS feeds will Never Let You Down! Whenever you see one of those RSS Feed icons, click on it to get the url of the feed. Now you need a Reader. Readers let you see ANY new updates to the site and it shows ALL your feeds at once. Reducing your surf time to about 2 minutes. There are lots of Readers out there; Google Reader  (RIP) is my favorite but you can also use Inoreader, Yahoos, News Gator, Bloglines, etc. Once you’ve signed up plug the URL into the Reader and you’re ready to Party Hard! So click the feed icon to start following this blog. If this doesn’t appeal to you, you can always subscribe via Email as well.

Hang out with yourself and have a crazy party! The new year will bring 4 new reasons to be excited. At least for AWK fans around the world. Two interviews at Kiwibox and Detnews clarified some disputes between underground AWK fans. The interviews revealed that sometime in February 2010 Close Calls With Brick Walls (AWKs 3rd studio album) will be re-released world wide. Previously the album has only been available in Japan with a bonus DVD, Korea with 4 bonus songs, and the U.S. (vinyl only) with 4 bonus songs. The world wide release will include ALL bonus songs previously released on CD, plus a bonus disc entitled Mothers of Mankind. Full with rare and unreleased tracks. We’re counting down until 2/1/10!

Following this release Andrew has said he is working on Young Lord and The Carrier. Ambiguity still surrounds these albums but Andrew has mentioned he is working on a psychedelic synthesizer and a new Rock n Roll album. Whether or not those genres fit those two releases is still up in the air.

And the 4th reason to celebrate is the expected tour with a full backed band. Something that hasn’t happened since 2004, with some exceptions in 2005.

If that sounds like he has a lot of work cut out for him let’s recap what he has accomplished in just over a year. The release of 3 full length albums, 2 splits, 2 singles, 2 produced albums, a number of appearances on tracks by other artists, 1 new TV show in its second season, and a TON of video/radio interviews. Whoa!

Roel and drumdude are definately Kids On Top for finding this track appearance by AWK. Mess Around appears on the album Sparks by Sahara Hotnights. This is an all girl rock band from Sweden.
